and be established in the present truth" 2 Peter 1:12

A REASON- For my weekly effort to you. It is not my intention to bring you 
anything new. I am not selling (nor buying) anything. The ones on this list 
are "knowers" who are established in "present truth". I welcome response and 
contribution of ideas.

BOOKS-Jeanene continues to dig in the closet and separate books etc. Junk 
does indeed "grow to fill all the space alloted". I am keeping enough books 
for an adequate library. I am following the rule,"Keep those volumes that 
you know contain what you will ever need to know". I am disposing of 
"freebies and "fluff". Many volumes will be alphabetized and added to the 
library at the Church of Glad Tidings.

HERE ARE-A couple for you: My Third Reader's Notebook by Gerald Kennedy. The 
late Dr. Kennedy was bishop in the Methodist church of the Los Angeles area. 
Upon retirement he compiled several books of his favorite illustrations and 
anecdotes. This is the 700 best ones. Abingdon Press ISBN 0-687-27615-2. 
This is available at www.kregel.com under "used books" for less than the 
$7.95 that I paid in 1974.
In 1895, Fleming Revell printed the actual notes and comments from the study 
Bible of D. L. Moody. That is all that I know about Notes From My Bible, 
other than I paid fifty cents for it at a bankruptcy sale at a store in 
Bradenton, Florida in 1957. Somebody once said of me, "If loitering in 
bookstores is a crime, he is a career criminal"

"GET GOD OUT"-We have said this as a nation. Now we want him to attend our 
prayer meeting at Yankee Stadium. Go figure.

MENSA-Is an international group that requires an IQ IN THE TOP 2%. Osama bin 
Laden, and many of his followers would qualify.

MANY VIEWS-I received an e-mail that declared that the speech by Billy Graham 
in the National Cathedral was the fulfillment of Mark 13:10. "And the gospel 
must published among all nations" The technology is amazing. The political and 
religious overtones made the speech to reach many new areas. No other 
particular event is linked to this event. Interesting!!

TIME WILL TELL-Forty years ago I taught that one super-evil man would rule 
the world religiously,economically, militarily and politically. I often 
wondered who and how this could be. Now I am told that there are hundreds 
who are capable and aspire.

LUKE 21:25-Several have remarked at my quote last week. I must confess to an 
oft comitted act in prophecy teaching-incompleteness. To properly use any 
words you must consider Matthew 25, Mark 13, and Luke 21 as a unit. After 
the basics are in the recipe-which answers are to which of the questions, you 
may add the seasonings of details. Do not fail to heed the solemn words to 
be watchful.

PEOPLE-Are the real story. I first met Perry and Elizabeth Dean in 1959 in 
the Manatee County Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. In their 
mid-eighties,they decided to spend the season in a warmer climate than 
Michigan. Mr. Dean suffered kidney blockage the first day driving. His 
pastor called to enlist my aid. Friday I found him in a coma. When he 
roused, it was with, "Thank you Jesus for healing me".
My prayer was on his faith. Saturday was a day that I spent in hectic and 
long pre-holiday work at J. C. Penney. A phone call to the nurses on the 
floor yielded a positive report. Sunday I was shocked to see them in church. 
I shall always recall their early words to me,-"Pastor,we may be old; but we 
are not looking for the undertaker. We are expecting the "upper-taker".
