Hello There,

Some especially gifted persons can hear a melody in situations. Some can 
feel the poetry in surroundings. Charles Hutchinson Gabriel was one of those 
rarely gifted in both areas.

He heard melody in difficulty and wrote the music to Brighten The Corner 
Where You Are and the immortal His Eye Is On The Sparrow. Frustration and 
deprivation were the settings of life for those living by faith.

Charles met Ed Card, who dealt with the element of society often called "down 
and out". As superintendent of Sun-shine Gospel Mission in Saint Louis, Ed 
was an enthusiastic, joyous man who would close his prayer, "And that will be 
glory for me".

MY GRANDMA SAID-I have enlisted the aid of my brother and sister for 
additions to this segment. It is not an easy assignment. Much of her 
conversation would be beneath the dignity level of the writer, them or the 
readers. When you read today's quote, you need to remember that I only 
write, not explain, "A whistling girl and a crowing hen, both will come to no 
good end".

AUSTIN IS A SPECIAL PLACE-That sounds like a true Texan. There may be only 
one other completely fitted gymnasium type workout room for wheelchairs in 
the world. There are specially fitted buses that come to your door and 
return you home. It takes time and patience to work a schedule, but it is 
worth the effort.

Beginning on November 11, I will go three times a week for a routine at St. 
David's Hospital. My limitations allow only a routine for the parts of me 
that work and for cardiovascular strengthening.

HEALTH CONCERNS-We, as a culture, are willing to pay to be healthy. Just 
read your SPAM messages whatever that means. I have told you before that a 
local druggist counts Jeanene and myself in the employee count, so we have 
our shots for this flu season free of charge. God has many ways to supply 
our needs.

MY, DIDN'T IT RAIN-After eleven days of dreary weather, the Sun reappeared 
last Tuesday afternoon. We were especially glad for many reasons. Among 
them being that we were able to go to contract for repairs and repaint on the 
exterior of the house. The carpenters and painters should be well rested. 
How does chartreuse trimmed in irridescent pink sound to you.

LOOKING OLDER-I have received the pictures taken at our fiftieth high school 
class reunion. The quality of the photos is good; but does everybody else 
ever look old.

HALLOWEEN SEASON-As we pass this time each year, I grow ever more concerned 
over the intrusion of the occult into what was a rather innocent time of 
"fun" in my youth. 

Have you been made aware of the recent publications that link Adolph Hitler 
and the rise of Naziism to the occult?

The idea of a "master" race and the subhuman status of those identifying with 
Judaiasm is steeped in Arianism. This error of the fourth century questioned 
the diety of Jesus among many falsehoods. 

Rudolph Hess and Heinrich Himmler were two of Hitler's most trusted leaders. 
The atrocities of these men and the act of them persuading a deranged man 
that he was perhaps the real "Savior" led to the most heinous of crimes 
against humanity in that dark era. These two were deeply involved in the 
occult. Reincarnation, necromancy (talking with the dead) and dabbling in 
Oriental religion to the extent of a visit to Tibet were all a part of this 
ungodly debacle.

There seems to be a renewed interest in World War 2. I pray that we are wise 
enough to see that those elements of madmen wishing to rule the world etc. 
are from an unholy source.

My purpose is not to give you any history lessons; but may I stir you to the 
point that mistakes do not need to be made again.

ENJOY THE JOURNEY-Today with pastors Richard and Diane Brennan in Belle 
Fourche So. Dakota. We are journeying with folks that are in the age group 
of my children.

Belle Fourche in the far northwest of the state (go west across the tip of 
Wyoming a dozen miles and you reach Big Sky country (Montana)), is not the 
end of the world; but you can see it from there. Belle is the hometown of my 
son-in-law, Randall. The three "R's" there are Ranches, Rodeo and Room. They had light snow and 16 degrees 
as the season of winter closes in.

PRAYER NEEDS-I just learned of a missionary family in Central Africa that 
needs intercessory prayer. Internal unrest has caused them to be robbed and 
beaten for their faith. This is a typical case that occurs somewhere in our 
"ruptured" world daily.

I WISH I HAD SAID THAT-My Michigan daughter attends a church that has 
recently changed pastors. My kids measure everybody's ability against mine. 
No Janet, I didn't say it, but wish I had. "Christians are not sinless, they 
just sin less".

HIGHLY FLATTERED-I received a request to use some excerpts from these letters 
by a man who airs over 19 stations on a Christian network as well as a 
"streaming" presentation by computer. (Whatever that is). Of course, no 
problem exists. I try not to infringe on any copyright areas, and make no 
such provisions. Copy away! I'm flattered.

COMMUNICATION-Is more than e-mail. It is a lifestyle. When I began THOUGHTs 
over two years ago, it was born of a desire to "reach out and touch". I now 
spend hours per week in reading, writing and rewriting.

Isolation is not an act of an intelligent person who is pursuing integrity. 
A regular reading of the Book of Proverbs will keep us aware of those things 
that we need from others. I believe that this is the basis for my insistence 
that we seek the best spiritual gifts for the benefit of other members of the 
body of Christ, the Church.

Perhaps the most noble lesson that I have learned in the more than ten years 
God granted me after medical science had reached dead end, is the importance 
of those who grant me support. 

To communicate on a meaningful level is a spiritual gift.----Seek it, TODAY.
