Hello,

NO CAN OF WORMS-I could really open one by starting on favorite songs.  Thoro 
Harris wrote "All That Thrills my Soul is Jesus" .  I liked to lead it as it 
almost sings itself.  Then I learned that it has limited "range".  Very 
little difference from the highest to the lowest note suits me.  Is there a 
greater verse than William Newell penned as verse four in "At  Calvary"?  "Oh 
the love that drew salvation's plan, Oh the grace that brought it down to 
man, Oh the mighty gulf that God did span, At Calvary"  A reader suggested 
Ephesians 2 :14-22 this week.  Sure fits here.

SMALLPOX-Scientists declared our planet as "smallpox free" some years ago.  
They had literally chased it down and by shots killed the virus.  Did you 
know that many missions agency are searching world maps.  Looking for the 
last dark corner.

CHANCE MEETING-Earlier this week I had a "chance" encounter with a nurse from 
ten years ago.  Carol Cortez was a real blessing to Jeanene and myself.  She 
suffered a stroke five years ago.  She has learned to walk and talk very 
well.  Some areas of memory malfunction has forced retirement.  Pray for 
Carol, a fellow believer.  What is beautiful is that it was in a store where 
we both seldom go.

PRAYER TIME-I enlist your prayer efforts for: Don Van Steenis.  This retired 
missionary had some serious heart surgery.  Many of you know my son-in-law, 
Randall McKnight.  His father, Edwin, has had some serious surgery.  He is 
improving, but join his family (five daughters and one son are all believers- 
as well as he and his wife, Elsie) in prayer for rapid and complete recovery. 
Randall, my daughter, Jeanine and their three children are singing and 
performing in "The Gospel According to Texas".  This musical drama (Texas 
style) is based on Saint Luke and is presented as a soul-winning effort.  
Your prayers are appreciated.

BIRTHDAY LETTERS-Many years ago, I began writing letters to my children on 
their date of birth each year.  My girls are on October 29 and 30.  So, one 
very teary day---

REMINDER-I am reminded of my own birthday on Tuesday.  I recently got the 
formal announcement of my fiftieth high school reunion next June.  There has 
got to be a mistake!  Let's see, I was 17--Oh! forget it.  (I probably will).

USE THE PHONE-I had a call from a local pastor friend on Thursday morning.  
He called just to say, "I love you". He "team-teaches" a meeting with his 
wife each week on Thursday.  Phone calls are his "warmup"  Clyde is a 
long-term pastor of a strong church.

A MILEPOST-I am approaching 500 "hits" on my web page.  Thank you.

OLD LISTS-Are usually not good reading.  My son-in-law in Michigan (Mike 
Stonerock) found my name on one from Ohio.  It said that I was due a little 
over a 100 dollars from an insurance transaction.  I have no recollection, 
but cashed the check anyhow.

GIVING AND THANKFUL-I try to demonstrate these traits each week.  When they 
are clear enough to draw your comment in response, I have succeeded.

NEW PASTOR-Changing of leadership is a difficult time in the life of a body 
of believers.  I have some old notes.  They make two fair efforts or one very 
boring time.

What to expect from each other:     PURITY---PUNCTUALITY--PARTICIPATION

Elements of endurance: PROVOCATION (Hebrews 10:24 style)--PROGRESS--PATIENCE

GOOD IDEA-My dogs are sunbathing on the deck on this bright, clear 80 degree 
day.  Think that I will go join them.
