A good gospel hymnal probably would contain the following songs: Are You 
Washed in the Blood?, Down at the Cross, I Must Tell Jesus, Is Your All on 
the Altar ? and Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.

Elisha Albright Hoffman wrote the words and/or the music to these and 2,000 
other favorites. Raised in a parsonage, he made the ministry in song and 
preaching his life's work. E. A. compiled and edited 50 books of gospel 
songs. His emphasis on the cleansing blood and deeper spiritual life is 
revealed in songs like----

Mr. Hoffman testified that he had Acts 8:21 in mind as this was written. 
Simon Peter had discerned a displeasing attitude in Simon of Samaria and in 
his request. The outward appearance was acceptable, but---"Thou hast neither 
part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God."

BEING INFORMED-May I safely assume that you are sitting at a computer. After 
glancing at the newspaper, I came here to my small office. The size is okay, 
I always "closed up" my study space by having certain "tool" books within 
reach. To add the computer makes an infinite difference in material 
available. This iMac is so small! How could it hold the thousands of pages 
of material? "Come on, Ron-spit it out."

What I am saying is: You have no reason for not being informed. The real 
dilemma is in deciding where and what to accept and believe. Daniel 12:4 
simply says, "Knowledge shall be increased". The general picture is that 
this time period may well be seen as holding particular threats for the believer. 
Could one of these threats be that we become desensitized to fallacies 
of all kinds? The "spirit of error"(1 John 4:6) surrounds us.

ABOUT AGE-Birthdays bring many thoughts to mind. I have heard it many times, 
but think that I heard my grandma say it first, "Age is really mind over 
matter; if you don't mind, it really doesn't matter"

A KEEN OBSERVATION-That I am certain you have made. Did you ever notice that 
the mental processes of some folks slow as they grow older? Now, think that 
over-Take all of the time you need.

BRAGGING RIGHTS-Belong to me. Collin and Owen (fifteen year old grandsons) 
began high school this year in a Freshman class of 750 at Crockett High 
School. The top 20 in the class recieved a "Fabulous Freshman" award. Each 
of them was so honored.

A NEW NAME-Will be seen in legislative matters from Washington D.C. The 
realignments after recent elections have brought Tom DeLay new prestige. Mr. 
DeLay is mentioned here because his life and voting record reflect 
conservative and Christian convictions.

ON THE JOURNEY TODAY-With some special friends of mine. Ron and Patty Decuir
of Centerville (Dayton), Ohio are going to retire to Florida after 53 years 
in the work force. Ron and his older son, Scott, own and operate Fast 
Fashion mens store in Xenia, Ohio. Many preachers etc. are better dressed 
because of their generosity.

AFTER TOMORROW-I'll know many things about the world picture: Saddam is 
going to let the whole world know what he is up to. The descendants of 
Ishmael and Isaac are going to kiss and make up as Israel and all Muslims 
stop hating each other after 5,000 years. (See Genesis 16). Just think, one 
more day and all of our "blinders" are removed. If my sarcasm is akin to 
cynicism, you read me very well today.

DEAD OR ALIVE-A tape recording was played this week thar raised the question 
anew, "Is Osama bin Laden dead or alive?" I guess that I really do care; but 
it is far more important that I proceed today knowing full well that Jesus 
Christ is alive.
