Hello--Today, The weather in Austin is in a year-ending slide downward. Light drizzle had begun when we left church. The temperature is predicted to drop below freezing tonight. Fortunately, seniors are not concerned with midnight on what could be an interesting night to begin 2001. I want to use some space for some "catch up" matters. THANK YOU-TO the group of ministers to which I have belonged for the decade of the nineties. They have issued me courtesy credentials for 2001, just as they have done since my retirement. wwwecainternational.org/ I CAN HELP-One of you flattered me by telling me that you kept waiting for a Christmas sermon outline. It's a little late for 2000, but I'll feed you one worthy of a year's study. Based on Philippians 2:5-11, I may conclude that in the miracle of the incarnation--Christ Jesus did NOT:1. DIS card Deity-2. DISdain Poverty-3. DIStort Humanity-----Now, go to work! Christmas is on Tuesday next year, if you care. A GOOD, QUICK READ-Kate Sagan sent me a book that will start your new year right. Dr. Bruce Wilkinson has written the "Breakthrough" series by Multnomah Publishers. One of this series is "The Prayer of Jabez" based on 1 Chronicles 4:9&10. Have you resolved to read more in 2001? This book is good and also disturbing enough to head you in the right direction. wwwmultnomahbooks.com READ FOR LIFE-For many years I have included repititious reading of Proverbs and Psalms in my daily regimen of God's Word. A Proverb per day will take you through January with me. Then Psalm 1-31-61-91-121 for the first day of February. Five Psalms per day in months with 30 days using that sequence. You will learn to add and combine readings as you go, and by the end of 2001 you have read Psalms and Proverbs each six times and be better for it. MAKE AND KEEP RESOLUTIONS FOR 2001 NOT A LAST THOUGHT-I just learned this morning that Vern (Sonny)Knibbs is scheduled for more radiation treatments. God and Sonny are acquainted with miracles.
