Good Lord's Day,

This special, sacred season evokes many special, sacred thoughts. My note 
for today is planned to be shorter to allow our focus to be sharper. Lead Me 
To Calvary.

KING OF MY LIFE I CROWN THEE NOW,
THINE SHALL THE GLORY BE.
LEST I FORGET THY THORN-CROWNED BROW,
LEAD ME TO CALVARY.

The words of the Apostle Paul as he begins the great "resurrection chapter", 
1 Corinthians 15, seem appropriate for the days ahead. "For I delivered 
unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for 
our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he 
rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" 1 Corinthians 15 : 3,4

LAST SUPPER-Portrayal by use of "frozen position" is most impressive. The 
characters pose in place until a spotlight rouses them for their story to be 
told. Two of my aunts saw such a presentation in Des Moines last week. I 
was informed by mail from one of them of the impact on the watchers during 
the one hour presentation.

THEM BOWMANS-Is on a link at my website. You will be blessed if you can 
schedule them in your church, or go to see this family. Blaine, Christine, 
Tiffany and Luke have stayed busy for several years on the road. Recent "air 
play" of some of their records has been significant. Check them out, please. 
I was allowed "in" on an e-mail late this week that hinted at a recording 
contract in their future. Please pray.

SCANDAL-In the Catholic church should cause us concern. The problem of 
sexual sins seems to rear its ugly head in the church world. May we each 
guard against even those areas that are acceptable in our corrupt society.

MOOD ALTERING-Seems to be fashionable and widespread today. My daughter 
works in a pharmacy and makes me to recoil with some "tamer" tales that she 
can share. One of the pharmacists jests about "Better living through 
chemistry" with sadness. I hear from readers of cases where alcohol and 
other drugs has touched their homes with tragic consequences. Television, 
and now the Internet, has made exposure to the temptation a matter of the 
safety that once was afforded by the home being taken away.

SHEPHERD-The word means more to me since I actually viewed those that lead 
that lifestyle. During our trip to Spain, we would literally bring our car 
to a halt for the flocks to cross. The gentle creatures and the tender care 
is obvious at first glance.

The GOOD shepherd who gives his life for the 
sheep----John 10 : 11
The GREAT shepherd who lives to work in me----Hebrews 13: 20
The CHIEF shepherd who will bring my reward-----1 Peter 5: 4
The nervous program participant began, "The Lord is my shepherd, what more 
could I want" The initial chuckles were drowned in applause as the audience 
grasped the truth.

ABOUT TIME-Spring is officially here according to the calendar. Randall, 
(son-in-law), mentioned earlier this week, "Pop, you and Nana have not been 
ill hardly at all this winter". About time that I praised the Lord for our 
annual flu shots. The chief pharmacist at a large drug store takes care of 
Jeanene and myself each fall. Bob just includes us in the employee number, 
then he does the actual injection. All without charge.

ISRAEL-I wish I could ignore the news from there; but it is on the front page 
each morning. My Bible study always leads me to this part of the world. I 
mused as I watched General McCafferty discussing the high cost of sending 
troops into a war zone where neither side of the fray is interested in an 
agreement.

WORTHY OF NOTE-Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell the same wonderful story 
with different points of emphasis. Is it significant that an increasingly 
greater percentage of each is focused on this final earth week in the life of 
Christ? Nearly one-half of the text of John is so involved. Could this be a 
divine reminder to pay attention to what really matters?
