Good Morning - Jesus is Still Alive!

ASSOCIATED PRESS - Carried some of your family news on Friday. I have 
enrolled you in the prayer family of Association of Baptists for World 
Evangelism. Your family suffered a tragedy. A missionary and her six month 
old adopted daughter were shot and killed in Peru. I will let your local 
newspaper and CNN furnish details. We will move on a higher level in prayer. 
Church history teaches us that when one volunteer falls, a hundred rise to 
take their place.

YESTERDAY SHOULD HAVE BEEN - A religious holiday. April 21, 1855 was the 
date of a proper and profitable session of workplace witnessing. Edward 
Kimball was not a credentialed minister. A faithful layman, he was a Sunday 
School teacher. Holton Shoe Store in Boston was his workplace and place of 
witness. On this date he had a convert-not much. Just an eighteen year old 
with no outstanding characterisitics. Dwight said an eternal "yes" to Jesus. 
Dwight L. Moody changed religious life in America.

A NEW BABY - Is no big deal unless it is your grandchild. Mike and Linda 
Knibbs post this for us each week. They sent me some photos this morning of 
their new grandchild. Congratulations!

A REGULAR READER - Is learning the dynamics of Bible study. His rhema this 
week was to always consider the entire passage when drawing any conclusions. 
John 8:32 promises a "freedom" only for those who are obedient followers. Do 
you always use this "context" method study? Some statements I have heard 
persuade me that it is not universal.

RIGHT ANSWERS - To wrong questions. Another reader submitted the idea to me 
that the jailer's question in Acts 16:30 was not about salvation, but rather 
of survival. The context can support this stance. Of course, I had to give 
an answer in three points: CRYSTALS-When I see all of these hanging from 
rear view mirrors and see all the religious signs and slogans I must conclude 
that mankind is religiously curious, CLEO-This oft-repeated T.V. ad and 
other sites for fortunetelling and Tarot Card readings echo a loud "amen". 
CLONES-Add the words "angel" or "miracle" to the title of any drivel and you 
have "hit". 1 Peter 3:15 urges me to have "right answers".

FOR OVER 35 YEARS - I used the Sunday morning after Easter to speak on 
stewardship and giving. (I mentioned it the other 51 Sundays). Build a 
sermon on PROPORTION-Abraham initiated it (Hebrews 7:4), Moses included it 
(Leviticus 27:30,31), Jesus commended it (Matthew 23:23) and Paul extended it 
(1 Corinthians 16:2) PRIORITY-Locals needs first, then your fair share in 
outreach. PROPOSITION - Just "do it". A good study personally, or as a 
group, must include 2 Corinthians 8 & 9. You can become an intelligent and 
eternal giver.
