Hello There, June already- Weddings, reunions, brides, fathers=calendars too full. I need to think with you of a great song with five verses-all too good to omit even one. I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED I KNOW NOT WHY GOD'S WONDROUS GRACE TO ME HE HATH MADE KNOWN, NOR WHY, UNWORTHY, CHRIST IN LOVE REDEEMED ME FOR HIS OWN. Chorus: BUT "I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED, AND AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE TO KEEP THAT WHICH I'VE COMMITTED UNTO HIM AGAINST THAT DAY." I KNOW NOT HOW THIS SAVING FAITH TO ME HE DID IMPART NOR HOW BELIEVING IN HIS WORD WROUGHT PEACE WITHIN MY HEART. I KNOW NOT HOW THE SPIRIT MOVES, CONVINCING MEN OF SIN, REVEALING JESUS THROUGH THE WORD, CREATING FAITH IN HIM. I KNOW NOT WHAT OF GOOD OR ILL MAY BE RESERVED FOR ME, OF WEARY WAYS OR GOLDEN DAYS, BEFORE HIS FACE I SEE. I KNOW NOT WHEN MY LORD MAY COME, AT NIGHT OR NOONDAY FAIR, NOR IF I'LL WALK THE VALE WITH HIM, OR "MEET HIM IN THE AIR." LET ME ASK YOU-Which verse would you have chosen to set aside? OF COURSE,-You saw the quotation marks in the chorus. You can quickly see why in 2 Timothy 1:12 "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day" Paul had a simple plan that began with Timothy and reached the entire world. "And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also." 2 Timothy 2:2 (KJV) You may rightly expect these letters to Paul's handpicked successor to contain special verses. I will share some with you. Remember that I use King James Version (KJV) for almost all quotations from scripture. "This is a faithful saying (often used words by Paul as "highlighters"), and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." 1 Timothy 1:15. And my personal favorite is in 2 Timothy 2 : 19. "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity." ATOMIC WAR THREAT-Appears to be very real between India and Pakistan. These two rather unstable nation have engaged in three wars since Great Britain withdrew in 1947. They each have dozens of nuclear warheads as large as the one dropped at Hiroshima. They are in a threatening posture against each other. The New York Times says that an attack-counter attack could kill 12 million and wound millions more. The US would be expected to intervene. Just thought to give you one more thing to worry about. My sister Pat leaves today for Gdansk, Poland. She will join a Polish team and head a team from US to begin a school for autism sponsored by Johnson&Johnson. Thank you. OLD FOLKS AT HOME-I liked this theme for my fiftieth class reunion. It was rejected, but I am going anyway. Phil is using vacation time for a quick trip to Iowa. It appears that we will drive. Leaving here on Wednesday, June 19 and returning beginning Saturday 22. My brother, Jack, owns and operates Adventureland in Des Moines. The Inn is a fine resort to which he has just added a whole new section of suites that are all handicapped equipped. I will sacrificially initiate one of them. We are arranging a flight forJeanene to go to Michigan in July to visit family there. It is thundering as I write this. Good!-a shower earlier this week prevented it from being the driest May here in 120 years. WORTH WAITING FOR?-Several dozen locals made the news here. They camped out near a movie theater for about three weeks to wait for a new sequel to "Star Wars." Those same folks probably think my beliefs about the end of earth's history is "strange." LIKE A BURR-Sometimes a thought sticks to the point of being uncomfortable. The final words of Psalm 86:11 have crossed the lips of my spirit dozens of times. "...unite my heart to fear thy name." James 1:8 joins those words as a prod to my spirit "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." Please keep working on me Lord. Amen IN OVER YOUR HEAD-A reader shared that he and his wife led a seminar recently that was attended by people who were clearly superior to them educationally and economically. The whole matter was resolved when they found that they had inner strength to impart. The Spirit of Christ is honored when we are willing to become helpers from our resources. You are "good at something." Don't fail to share your expertise for the sake of others. Gifts of Administration (Ephesians4), Ministration (Romans 12) and Manifestation (1Corinthians 12) are all for the benefit of others. PUT BACK YOUR EARS-And go after it. Some of you encourage me to do so when I "preach" in these notes. We'll talk about that in later letters. I did get some verses from several of you after my "tongue-in-cheek" request of last week. It seems that Romans, chapter one, could serve us well. This is a sad document of how God views human history. I will point out some verses and trust you to read them. All are in Romans, chapter one: 18, 20-25, 28-30. The entire chapter yields much light. His, Ron Krantz
