Hello, FATHERS DAY-Next Sunday. The saying is that you become a replica of your parents. I aspire to that height. JUNE 6-Did the date pass you by? My ninety year old neighbor was in my home this week. She talked of rationing, rubber drives, buying savings stamps etc. Mostly she recalled the horror when the blue star in a neighbor's window was replaced with a gold one. PRAYER NEEDS-A very special lady to Jeanene and I has learned this week that she has Hodgkins Disease. This strain of cancer is severe in her case. The man who had the long hospital stay, had heart surgery. Long rehab days ahead. 7-11 MUSIC-Is how one lady describes much of today's music. "You take seven words and sing them eleven times". I am happy to have learned "The Solid Rock" and "It Is Well With My Soul". TRIVIA-It disturbs me that transgression of God's law is regarded as such. "Everybody else is doing it" NEVER worked at my house. HISTORY-Are you a "buff"? Go to christianity.net and follow down a couple of screens. You can ask for a weekly e-mail on "church history". I have just given you a source that I sometimes use here. HEALING-It is evident that I believe in healing. I share needs and praises on a weekly basis. I need to have us thinking on the same channel. I realize the risks involved in transparency; but let us just chat. I clearly separate "faith" healing from "divine" healing. "Faith" healing speaks to me of an earthly energy, while "divine" healing carries the idea of sovereignty and strength on a heavenly level. "Faith" healing leads to at best a production, and at worst to a sideshow atmosphere. When at all possible, we are on the most stable footing in James 5:14. The church operates with the elders praying the prayer of faith, and the Lord doing the healing. I Corinthians 12:28 teaches us that there are "gifts of healings" available in the church. Please note the plural usages. The wise pastor will recognize and utilize those individuals who possess any of these gifts. My goal in writing to you each week is bound up in 1 Corinthians 14:1 in NKJV. "Pursue love and desire spiritual gifts......" Let's also look at verse 12. "Even so you, since you are zealous for spiritual gifts, let it be for the edification of the church that you seek to excel". The word "desire" in verse 1 is "zeloo" in N.T. Greek.--zealous. The header list of recipients to this letter includes a wide variety of persons. Many of them are strangers to each other and are separated by oceans and continents. May I assure each of you that I compiled and added to this list with an eye to including what is spiritually the "best" (1Corinthians 12:31) gifts for the purposes that I felt would please the Lord. I added a person this week that possesses "gifts of healings". There are gifts of faith, governments, mercy, helps, miracles, prophecy and discerning of spirits that I have personal knowledge concerning. There may be others. These should raise each person's level of confidece as we communicate and care. His, Ron Krantz
