Hello, JESUS IS ALIVE!

GOOFS-If the latest copy has revealed a more than normal amount of 
errors, blame me. I am learning to use the spell check feature. When we do 
our own proofreading, we tend to overlook our errors. Do you have a wart 
that you no longer see? Mike and Linda Knibbs check these over and make me 
look much better. You can only do so much.

YOU REALLY DO READ THESE NOTES-I received a complaint that a young pastor was 
guilty of making "every blessing into a burden" by repeating truths in a very 
condemning manner. He is a good speaker, but wearies his hearers. My words 
to the writer, "Take at least two board members, ask for an agenda place on 
the next meeting of the proper group, prepare the matter in writing and 
discuss it with him. His youth is in all of your favors. Make it a matter 
of serious prayer not gossip.

STEM CELL-Try to become informed here. We have a recipe for 
disaster-politics, religion and shaky science. I appeal in my mind to 
Genesis 11:5 and realize that God sees awesome possibilities in mankind. 
Please note the context: It would teach us that God is in ultimate control.

AGAIN-A major Protestant denomination is spending thousands of dollars on a 
three year study to do two things: 1. Determine if Jesus was divine. 2. 
Decide whether to ordain homosexuals. Could you and I save them time and 
money?

PAMPLONA-The celebration in Spain is completed for 2001. This 
quasi-religious feast is perhaps 10 centuries old. Today it is a week-long 
drunken orgy with a twist-each morning at 8 A.M. a herd of bulls are run 
through the narrow streets filled with revelers. On the way across town to 
the bullfight ring , people try to touch them and catch them.

Of course, a dozen or more are gored and trampled each year. One organizer 
dismissed the injuries with,"they just don't know how to run the bulls". I 
may be a rural Iowa bumpkin, but I know----SOBER-------AWAY-------FAST.

FINAL WORD-One of you asked what the first outline was that I learned. In 
1944, I had just been promoted to Junior Boys class with Anna Quick as teacher. 
Our lesson was on 2 Timothy 3:7, "Ever learning, and never able to come to 
the knowledge of the truth". We also heard Daniel 12:4 cited as talking 
about last days and saying that "knowledge" and not wisdom would be 
increased. Comment: Pretty heady stuff. 

We were challenged to not persist in the same cycle of error that marked the 
nation of Israel. SIN that brought SUFFERING. God would send a prophet or a 
good king to lead in SUPPLICATION and that would bring SALVATION. One of the 
"big kids" in that class that met in the first two benches behind the heater 
in the south side of the one room church pastored by Ralph Chandler, was Dr. 
Wendell Kempton who just retired as leader of Association of Baptists for 
World Evangelization,
