Dear Jesus-I am a sinner. Thank you for dying in my place and rising again 
to give me Life. I pray that you will forgive me and help me to please you

eternal matters. Have you prayed a prayer like this one sometime in your 
lifetime? If not, do it now and mean it. I will give you some verses from 
the Bible to help you. Please find a pastor and a local church nearby to 
lead you further.

The Apostle Paul wrote, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord 
Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the 
dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto 
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation". Romans 
10: 9 &10

not aware that Newsweek magazine and CBS Sunday Morning News with Charles 
Osgood were going to use it. These are more proper forums for that 
expression. I need to maintain a Christian level of dignity and delicacy.

SUNNY-Is a word that I'd like to have used concerning my disposition and 
demeanor. The dark days of the last few weeks have been a real test for 
those of us who take a clear look at Biblical prophecy. If I cause you any 
undue concerns, please "delete" without any feeling of regret.

HEROES-My list has grown recently, with some of the additions in the surprise 
category. Rudolph (the rock) Guliani- This mayor has been everywhere, 
always, George Pataki-How would I know enough about this governor of New 
York to have any opinion prior to September 11?, Colin Powell is a perfect 
spokesman for America today. He possesses austerity without projecting 
arrogance, John Ashcroft has displayed his tender self as he methodically 
sets about his tasks with efficiency. Add to this list and draw up your own. 
We all need heroes (Psalm 101:6).

GEORGE AND LAURA BUSH-These are nice enough people to have over to the house 
after church on Sunday night. They just might come, if invited.

STORIES-Of caring and heroism abound. This one comes to me via a reader in 
the D.C. area with a 99.9% level of guaranteed authenticity: General Van 
Antwerp reports this from the Pentagon.-During the massive reactions, LTC 
Brian Birdwell received third degree burns over 50% of his body. Taken to a 
Washington hospital, he was surprised by a visit from George W. Bush.

After an appropriate visit and prayer, Mr. Bush stepped to the foot of the 
bed.

He gave a salute and held it until bandaged arms could be raised to "wave 
off". (It is my understanding that the superior in the salute must "wave off" 
the posture). WOW

"THE" SPEECH-Of September 20 is being hailed as "The speech" of recent years. 
Even critics of George W. Bush are extending accolades. Those of us in 
Austin have watched George Bush mature from a nearby vantage point. I will 
drop some significant names. Karen Hughes-is a strong lady in the fashion of 
Barbara Bush. You can sense her confident support to the President. Mike 
Gerson is the full time speech writer for the White House. Formerly of U.S. 
News and World Report magazine, Mr. Gerson has co-authored books with Chuck 
Colson of Prison Ministries. An outspoken evangelical believer, he gives a 
solid slant to world affairs. Marvin Olasky is a professor of journalism at 
The University of Texas at Austin. An outspoken believer, he is reputed to 
be author of the term "compassionate conservative" and is very much an 
influence in the Bush White House .

OPTIONS-Have we run out of options? Thursday morning, one of my grandsons 
(14) called from school with a short survey for his class. Would I give up 
freedom of speech to aid the FBI? Should we thrust extra watch procedures 
into the affairs of all persons from middle-east backgrounds?etc. And this 
that made me to become very sober. Which option should we pursue today-1. 
Invade Afghanistan in a ground war, 2. Drop a nuclear bomb on Afghanistan, 3. 
Have a peace conference with Osam bin Laden, 4. Ask the U.N. for aid.. I 
ask you reader----Have we run out of options? Without a long study, I will 
cite from Luke 21:25,"Distress of nations with perplexity". The word 
"perplexity" is more accurate rendered from N.T. Greek as "no passageway 
out". Hmmm "Distress of nations with no passageway out".
